It does a pretty good job on photo prints, and I love that it has a separate tray specifically for 5x7 photo paper. It prints out fast, whether it's prining in black and white or color. I've had the HP Photosmart C7280 all-in-one for two or three years now, and it fulfills most of my everyday printing needs. I guess if you get this machine really cheap or given to you, then you'll be okay with it - otherwise, do more homework and find something better.įalse I Love My HP Photosmart C7280 !!!!!! Who really faxes that much anymore anyway? It is cheaper and eliminates the need for a fax machine. No bother for a fax anymore, just go online and use an electronic fax. I would rather have a scanner and a printer. Just way too big! I don't like the idea of 3 in 1 printers actually. Have you ever gotten a document from someone and it is a picture of a document? Takes up way to much space in your email and doesn't print well. This printer/scanner/fax makes you save everything as a photo. I had to resort to plugging in my old HP scanner (3570C) and scan just so I could save to Word. You must get an OCR program and pray it works. The other (non) feature of this printer is that you cannot scan to Word. To do the smart thing, one should have at least two sets of cartridges on hand at all times. It is very inconvenient though to have to replace individual cartridges because it will stop printing when it runs out of one. It has individual ink cartridges for each color and a separate one for black - all with the idea of being more economical. This printer though, to me, is just average. I don't think you can get any better hardware than HP. they have come a long way since the 90's. True HP Photosmart C7280 may not be so smart.Īs far as HP goes. All-in-all I highly recommend this product as a perfect addition to any home office. They do cost a little more, but the cartridges last quite a bit longer. Granted this does tend to use up the ink cartridges pretty fast, but you can find these at a reasonable price if you shop around and recently I have found that they are making the ink cartridges as XL cartridges. The prints look exactly like what you would receive from having them developed in a store and the price is considerably less, if you produce as many photographs as I do. My most favorite quality of this machine is the photograph printer. Copying is a breeze in both color and black and white on this machine. This printer handles the scan and fax functions very well and it is very easy to program for the fax function. I expecially like how easy it is to change the ink cartridges without having to contort your arms to reach them and release and reposition them.

Very easy to use and the instruction manual and help function provide you with the answers to any questions that you may have. Good ridden.I have always liked Hewlett Packer printers, but this all-in-one is outstanding. Fantastic features, wireless, and awesome duplexing, but it's all lost on the ink (and its ridiculously bloated software).

I hate this printer because of this issue, but the real tragedy here is that it is honestly an excellent machine otherwise. Other than one other reviewer for this very printer, nobody else seems to even notice or care. I would have figured that somewhere in all the information floating around the internet, some wise person would have tackled this.

I must say that I'm shocked that there are no websites or discussions about this problem, especially considering that it occurs across multiple manufacturers and models. I found that Brother, Lexmark, and Epson DO NOT BLEED. Fact is, it depends on the models and manufacturers. So I went to several stores this week and did my own reality check. First off, think back to $80 ink jet printers from five or ten years ago. Some morons will tell you "that's life nowadays because new printers use water-soluble ink." Do they really believe that? If so, they really are morons. Bottom line - IF THE INK COMES IN CONTACT WITH ANY MOISTURE (a moist finger, drop of water on your desk, raindrops, etc.) IT BLEEDS. HP then replaced my 6180 with the newer c7280. Aside from insanely bloated software, dry prints smudged and bled after contact with the smallest amounts of moisture. Please note, my issue here is smudging and bleeding AFTER the print is dry (even days or weeks after printing). Let the pages dry, wet your finger, run it across the print, and then see what happens. I went to several electronics stores this week and ran "test prints" from printers I liked. I don't know why there's no talk about ink quality among the major multi-function printers.
